Round 4 in AFL Capricornia will hopefully see the best football of the year so far with all A Grade teams matched in accordance with their current ladder rankings.
TopRankedBoyneIsland /Tannum Sands Saints play second placed Yeppoon Swans at SwanPark both clubs are unbeaten on 12 points and only separated by percentage.
The Swans will be quietly confident of a victory against the Saints, their home ground advantage is a big factor at SwanPark. And this weekend will be slower than usual after the downpour on Wednesday night.
Last season’s Bernie Gottke Medal winner Matthew Wallin looked good against Brothers leading the way again with 5 goals and the trio of Tom Cossens, Nathan Grant-Milburn, and Alex Chapman will all be hard to beat.
The Saints leading goal kicker, full forward Luke O’Shea has 20 goals for the season so far to his credit but will take part in the most interesting contest of the day when he lines up against the Swans outstanding full back Dan Mulvey, this contest could easily decide the outcome of the match.
Swans Coach Dale Wetzler said that Swans also have their other spear head in centre half forward and previous Essendon AFL Club rookie list player Albert Russell available.
The Saints ability to move the ball from one end of the ground to the other with purpose has made them the hardest club to beat over the last decade.
BITS the reigning premiers have the likes of Jake Mostert, Daniel Hunt, Aaron Fabian and Peter Bond in their list playing this role which will ensure that no matter where they travel within the League or who they play they will always be hard to beat.
Rockhampton Panthers and the Glenmore Bulls have been rivals for 41 years. Bulls are in third place with 8 points and Panthers have 4.
Glenmore are entitled to be favourites by the virtue of their two victories (Gladstone and Brothers) but this match at the Rockhampton Cricket Ground could go either way.
Panthers have recruited fairly well this season especially new ruckman Travis Atkinson but have lost Stephen Mills and Hamish Davidson to the Gold Coast Suns Academy.
The Bulls have beaten Gladsone Mudcrabs and Brothers but were trounced by BITS as were Panthers.
The Bulls will need good performance from the reliable Payne brothers Darcy and Nick and will be relying on Brandon Chadwick and centre half back Luke Saunders to emulate their round 1 performances.
Brothers and the Gladstone Mudcrabs do battle at KeleParkPark in West Rockhampton both clubs are winless in the A grade (though Gladstone are top of the ladder in reserve grade) this season and are desperate for a win.
Both clubs have good players in their line ups, Brother’s Scott Smithwick and Gladstone' Ricky Windridge have more than held their own for the past 5 seasons.
The Mudcrabs have lost several of their players from last season’s grand final side and have now joined Brothers at the bottom of the ladder and a close and hard fought encounter is expected.
