The Gladstone Mudcrabs are the first team to bite the dust this final series after an 84 point loss to the Panthers at Kele Park. A large crowd was on hand to watch a close first quarter were Gladstone kicked the opening goal in the first minute. Panthers took control after that taking a 10 point lead in an at quarter time. The game was won in the second quarter with Panthers pilling on 8 goals with forward Chris Heaslip a focal point. At half time the margin was 61 points thanks to the efforts of Clint Evans and Jason Chisolm. The Panthers continued to dominate the second half with youngster Matt Ryan, Tom Kneen and Ben Kneen among Panthers best. Chris Heaslip ended up with 8 goals for the game. The Eilola brothers Shane and Steve where good for Gladstone as well Jarred Gillies and Jason Chirgwin. It was also the last game for Gladstone duo Mark Gordon and Damon Alchin retiring this year.
It was a much closer game in the Reserves between Gladstone and the Panthers. The scores were close at every change with 5 points the biggest margin at quarter time. It was close in the last quarter with the Panthers winning by a single goal. Matthew Schumacher was the leading goal kicker for the Panthers with 3 while Ben Hopkins kicked 2 goals for Gladstone. In results Gladstone beat Yeppoon in the U/17’s and Glenmore defeated Brothers in U/15’s. Glenmore also won the U/13’s against Panthers.
