Round 11 of the Trend Interiors Carpet & Tile Court AFL Capricornia has thrown up some interesting results. The top two sides Panthers and Glenmore had disappointing losses leaving the top four wide open. BITS Saints have taken first sport on the ladder by percentage with Panthers second. Glenmore and Gladstone are on 26 points each with Glenmore third on percentage. Brothers have continued their late push for a final spot with a good win while Yeppoon will need to win all of their games to have any chance of making the final series.
BITS Saints had a strong win over the Panthers winning by 100 points. The Saints were in control right from the opening bounce kicking 8 goals while keeping the Panthers goaless. Nathan Shippard was a key contributor down forward kicking 7 goals while Travis Hudson kicked 4 goals. The goals were shared out evenly among the Saints with ten goal kickers. Jamie Waasdorp and Clint Sutton tried hard for the Panthers while Alex Totten, Nathan Shippard and Lucas Hall were good for the Saints.
Brothers continued their second half season revival with a win over the Glenmore Bulls. Brothers had the upper hand over the Bulls for the majority of the second half and had a 5 point lead at half-time. Glenmore tried to pull away in the third quarter and opened a two goal lead during the third term. Brothers fought back and reduced the lead to one point at three quarter time. It was tight in the last quarter with Brothers pulling away in the last ten minutes only to have the Bulls claw their way back. Brothers eventually got the win by a solitary point with Aaron Ferguson, Adam William and Peter O’Brien starring in the win. Dean Woosnam and Josh Fredricks tried hard for Glenmore.
At Swan Park the Gladstone Mudcrabs had a good come from behind win over the Yeppoon Swans. The Swans were dominant in the first quarter kicking 3 goals to Gladstone’s 1 goal. Yeppoon continued to play well in the second quarter until the third quarter were Gladstone put on 7 goals. Gladstone kicked 10 goals to Yeppoon’s 1 in the second half with Nathan Smith, Elisha Yasso and Shane Eilola dominating around the ground. Best players for Yeppoon included Adam Johnson, Simon Johnson and Chris Blanchard. In the Reserve Grade Glenmore had a strong win over a depleted Brothers line up, BITS Saints were to good for Panthers while the Swans won a close one against Gladstone
