In the first clash of the weekend, BITS demolished GLENMORE, smashing them by 107 points. It was a convincing win for the home side, keeping the Bulls goalless in three of the four quarters.
After establishing a 33 point lead at the main break they continued on in the second half putting through fifteen majors. John Beirouti kicked nine goals from full forward and whilst Dan Hunt was probably their best a number of players could have shared that honour.
The Bulls struggled for players who beat their opponents, Tyson Payne and Justin Tate a couple of Glenmore's better contributors.
In the second game of the weekend, GLADSTONE pulled off arguably the biggest upset of the year beating YEPPOON by six points.
The Swans kicked away in the opening term with the help of the breeze, establishing a 33 point lead at quarter time. It appeared that the home crowd could be treated to another big win as the Muddies were held to just two behinds. In the second quarter Gladstone managed to kick a couple of goals, however were still trailing by 24 points at the main break.
The Muddies came out firing in the third quarter and managed to kick six goals to four into the wind. Stuart Seager was moved to play loose in the backline whilst Shane and Steve Eilola managed to influence the contest in the middle of the ground. The Muddies managed to hold the Swans goalless in the final term and won the game by six points in a very close finish. Nick Stanley was best for Gladstone whilst Matty Wallin was best for Yeppoon.
In the final game of the round BROTHERS were too strong for PANTHERS, winning the contese by 27 points. Brothers started well and by quarter time had created a 22 point lead, the Panthers unable to close this gap for the remainder of the game.
Aiden Colbourne continued his run of good form with another six goals whilst Michael Rose and Scott Smithwick were the better players for the winners. Liam Kronk was solid with three goals for Panthers and Sam Gudgeon was their best player on the day.
