Round two of the Trend Interiors Carpet and Tile Court AFL Capricornia season has thrown up a number of interesting results. In a surprise result the BITS Saints were pushed all the way by the Glenmore Bulls. BITS Saints ran out winners by 15 point in a see-sawing battle. BITS Saints were ahead by 20 points at quarter time but the Bulls pulled back the lead to be down by two goals. Glenmore then took the lead and looked to be pulling away before an experienced BITS Saints side took control of the game through Adam Dickenson and Darren Boase. Dean Woosnam stood out with eight goals for Glenmore.
Gladstone traveled down to Kele Park to play an improving Brothers side. The game was tight for three quarters with Gladstone maintaining their lead for the majority of the time. Brothers were within two goals of the lead at three quarter time and had a chance to register their first win of the season however they failed to kick a goal in the last quarter with Gladstone running away to win by 39 points. A positive to come out of the game for Brothers was the performance of young players Matt Pollock and Chris Szepanowski. Gladstone was lead well by Nick Stanley, Charlie Johnston and Nathan Smith.
In other results Panthers beat Yeppoon in a low scoring contest. Panthers were inaccurate, kicking a total of 23 points with a number of easy misses in front of goal. Yeppoon were ahead for most of the game holding a 2 point lead at three quarter time. Pantherâs inaccuracy nearly cost them the win however they eventually started to convert goals in the last quarter to win by 19 points. Best players for Yeppoon where Nick Dempster, Wes Hawke and Daniel Watkins. The much talked about Lyle Clifford played well for Panthers.
In the Reserves winners were BITS Saints, Panthers and Gladstone. The ladder for the A-Grade has BITS Saints on top by percentage with Gladstone second. Glenmore are third followed by Panthers, Yeppoon and Brothers. For the Reserves the BITS Saints are on top after impressive wins.
