Round one of the Trend Interiors Carpet and Tile Court AFL Capricornia competition was played over the weekend,the story of the weekend was the belting handed out to the reigning premiers the Panthers on their home ground by the Saints.
After 6 months footy was back over the weekend with round one of the AFL Capricornia season getting under away across the region. Three good contest to get the season underway were played with Gladsone taking on Yeppoon at home, the mudcrabs proved too strong for the swans running out the game harder for a tough 3 point win.
In the local derby Brothers travelled to Stenlake Park to take on Glenmore in a match that proved the Roos will be a much more competitive outfit in 2008, the Bulls had to fight for everything running out eventual 11 goal winners.
In the match of the round the Saints traveled up the Bruce Highway to take on reigning premiers the Panthers at the Rockhampton Cricket Ground. The Panthers unveiled their 2007 premiership flag prior to the game but were well and trully ran off there feet by a much more commited and fitter Saints outfit, the Saints ran out 11 goal winners gaining some revenge from their 2007 Grand Final loss and handing out the Panther first loss since 2006.
In the reserve grade competition the the Mudrabs proved too strong for the Swans, the Saints thrased the Panthers and the Bulls ran all over the Roos.
In Round two matches Glenmore travel to Boyne Island to take on the Saints, the Panthers Host the Swans and the Roos take on the Mudcrabs at home.
