The first semi finals were played last weekend in the Trend Interiors Carpet Court AFL Capricornia competition and the big winners in the seniors were the Gladstone mudcrabs who had to fight hard to shake of the Yeppoon Swan's, in the reserve grade match the Glenmore bulls proved too strong for the Saints in a performance that will be sure to have the other sides looking over their shoulder.
After a very scrappy but even first half a blistering third quarter from the muddies lead by a 7 goal effort from Michael Keller was enough to send the swans packing from the premiership race in 2007. The muddies now enjoy the week off and will meet the looser of this weekends 2nd semi final in the preliminary final.
The focus now shifts to this weekends 2nd semifinal battle between the leagues to best performed teams of 2007, the all conquering panthers will meet the reigning premiers the saints with the winner booking a spot in this years grand final. This match will be an absolute ripper with both sides boasting plenty of talent across the ground. The team that gets on top through the midfield and plays four quarters will go a long way to winning the game. In the wide open reserve grade finals series the panthers take on the swans in a match that will be a beauty.
In Paul Archer the Good Guys junior footy winners of the first semi finals in each grade were the saints in the under 13's, the roos in the under 15's and the swans in the under 17's. This weeks second semi finals will see the swans and the muddies do battle in the 13's, the saints and the muddies clash in the 15's and in the under 17's the saints and bulls will square off. Good luck to all teams!
