In round eleven of the Trend Interiors Carpet AFL Capricornia competition all three matches were won by the team that was favorite on paper prior to the start of the round.
The Panthers continued their winning ways defeating the Glenmore Bulls by 87 points at Stenlake Park, while at Boyne oval the Saints completely outclassed a severely depleted Brothers outfit. Unfortunately the great footy played in the match of the round was overshadowed by an unacceptable incident that is not tolerated in our code. There is an investigation being conducted into the incident, while it would not be fair to comment and prejudice the investigation, rest assured the investigation will be thorough and exhaustive with appropriate action being taken.
Looking ahead to this weekends round 12 matches, the match of the round will see the Panthers travel down to Clinton Park to take on Gladstone in a match that could be a preview of this years grand final. Gladstone vs Panthers - Clinton Park 2.30pm 14/7/07
The match of the round looks to be a beauty with the first place Panthers traveling down the Bruce Hwy to take on the third placed Mudcrabs. This will be a big test for the unbeaten Panthers who will be very keen to continue the mental edge they currently have over the Muddies leading up to the finals. The Muddies on the other hand need to take it right up to the Panthers to give themselves the belief that they can match it with the ladder leaders come finals and potentialy the grand final. The Panthers keep grinding away at teams through the relentless pressure of their midfield who are generating plenty of oppurtunities for the likes of Clintion Ennis and their potent forward line. The Muddies will need to have all their big guns on their game and play four consistant quaters to win this one, but with the home ground advantage and the likes of Michael Keller and Aaren Barrett on fire the Muddies will fancy their chances.
Yeppoon vs BITS - Swan Park 2.30pm 14/7/07
Yeppoon have droped away in recent weeks since the suspension of Wes Hawke and will find themselves under real pressure to hold their spot in the four should they loose this one. The Young kids at Yeppoon dimantled BITS in the first meeting at Swan Park this year, they will need to be at their best agian if they are to knock off the the Saints who are gathering momentum at the right end of the year. The Saints will be ready for the Swans this time round and with the likes of Nathan Shipard and Lucas Hall in great form will take some stopping. The Yeppoon young guns will hold the key to victory for the Swans and if they get a run on the swans will fancy their chances.
Brothers vs Glenmore - Kele Park 2.30pm 14/7/07
Its been a long season for the winless Roo's but nothing will brighten their season up more than a big upset win over their arch rivals the Glenmore Bulls. The Roo's have had a terrible run with injury this year but will need to have all their available players at their best to knock of the hungry Bulls. The Bulls still have a big chance of playing finals football this year and will need to win at least 3 of their next 4 games to make the finals. A big win this week against the Roo's would put the pressure right on Yeppon to maintain their spot in the four and set up a few big games to look forward to in the run home to the finals.
Junior games start from 8.45am running through to seniors at 2.30pm, head down to your local club from some great AFL action.
