The 2022 Season is fast approaching bringing with it 50 years of Newman National Football League.
Founded by Bill Knox and Founding Fossils: Terry Smith, Bob Patterson, Mike Roszak, Greg Williams, Merv Welsh, Barry Hibben, Andie Tonich, Alan Grivell, Brian and Judy Mackie and Dennis Barber, in 1972 and with 3 Clubs, Centrals, Saints and Tigers, building to 4 Clubs in 1975 with Pioneers joining the competition. Being a mining town Football has seen a lot of ups and downs over the years, from the beginning of Mt Whaleback Mine in the 70's, to the glory days of the 80's and a fierce rivalry between Saints and Tigers, changing of BHP Rosters, through to FIFO players in the 2000's.
In 2022 we celebrate 50 Years of the Great Australian Game in Newman, more details will follow, however now is the time to go through your old storage boxes of memoirs from yesteryear and bring memories back to life for what will be a great year.
