2016 Presidents Report
A big thanks to our sponsors Piacentini, AHG service centre, Lend Lease, CFC Electrical and ME Holdings for their donation of the meat for the presentation night.
First off all I would like to thank all the 2016 NNFL committee and all the volunteers that help make the 2016 season a successful season.
There were some highlights this year with the scoreboard finally up and working and that is with big thanks to Craig Hoyer working with the shire to get the approvals and then the agreement, NNFL v FNFL game back on after 6 years in the wilderness big thanks to Dennis Moyle who coached the team and done a fine job, Saints going 3 in a row, no forfeits with a total of 167 members being registered throughout the 2016 season.
For the first time we had players be selected into the WACFL all-stars team and play at the 2016 Landmark carnival and the team went through undefeated but weren’t allowed to participate in the finals, from that 2 players being selected into the WACFL state team and playing in Adelaide Dillan Jones and Matt Dickie
There was the trail of the 2 rounds starting earlier and will discuss further in general business, very good umpiring numbers this year and that leads into to a big thanks to Chris Burgess for taking on the umpire coach role and also doing a fine job in the secretary role.
Overall it was struggle with sponsors and the league tried a few things to see if we can make some money others ways with the Calcutta at the presentation night which raised $450.00 and the raffle and $5 entry for the grand final which raised $1315.00.
I would like to congratulate all the club and NNFL award winners and one of the pleasing things is the amount of young kids very high up and taking out the awards which is healthy for footy in Newman and the future of the completion.
Thanks again all and look forward to see what the 2017 season brings us with the hosting of the 2017 NNFL v FNFL game and hopefully Newman players get the opportunity to participate at the 2017 landmark carnival and shoe the footy talent off from the Pilbara.
2016 NNFL President
Mick Kendrick.
