The NNFL AGM was recently conducted for the second time this year.
Unfortunately President Mick Kendrick has stepped aside due to a few unsavoury incidents in 2014. The NNFL will be worse off with Micks departure particularly that no-one else has been willing to step up to fill the void. Once again its a case of too few doing too much, and enough becomes enough. We hope that all Clubs, Coaches, Players and spectators respect the NNFL committee and club committee's and start considering the ramifications of their at times unsavoury actions. Leagues and clubs cannot afford to lose good people due to the actions of a few.
As we all know Newman is going through some tough times, with several redundancies due to cost cutting at BHP which has a flow on affect throughout the community. 2014 saw a rapid rise in reduced playing numbers at almost every club, and increased forfeits involving 3 clubs. This has lead to a discussion of changing the game in the NNFL, clubs were asked to go back to their committee's and discuss several options, reduced player numbers, reduced game, reduced qtrs.
The following was agreed by all clubs at the recent AGM:
Season reduced to 12 games (3 games to qualify for finals) Byes for 1st & 2nd week of school holidays
Player Numbers reduced to 16 players + 4 interchange
Games to be back to back on Saturday nights
Clubs to provide Field Umpires (cannot umpire their own club game)
Qtr's reduced to 17 mins (no time on) 1st Game commences at 6.45pm sharp
Major Fines to be increased 10 fold ie: failure to supply a goal or field umpire $50 to become $500
The 2015 committee consist of the following:
President - 4 Club Presidents to Preside over the NNFL
Vice President - Ken Rowe (from Perth to assist NNFL where possible, liaise with NPFL for interleague game)
Treasurer - Emma Chapman
Secretary - Karen Lockyer
Registrar - Stacey Mallard
The NNFL committee, Clubs and Players all would like to thank Mick Kendrick for his 2-3 years of dedicated service and hope that over time Mick reconsiders and comes back on board to assist the NNFL
On a Sad note the NNFL committee, Clubs and Players say farewell to Deb Thoars (WAFC Volunteer of the Year), her 7 years as Secretary of the NNFL, and 10 years filling several roles at Tigers (President, Vice President, Secretary) will leave a huge hole to fill in the NNFL and at Tigers FC. We wish Deb and Steve all the best for their next adventure.
The NNFL committee hope that all club and players consider their actions in 2015, we are a small league in a small town and we cannot afford to have a club(s) or the league fold. The decisions made at the AGM are for the betterment and viability of the NNFL and will be reconsidered on a yearly basis, we urge all patrons to become community rientated, strive to win but respect each other and all volunteers.
Regards
NNFL Committee
