In addition, in a partnership arrangement with Tasmania's three daily newspapers (The Advocate, The Examiner and The Mercury) RACT Insurance and AFL Tasmania will present the Wrest Point State League teams in all three newspapers every Thursday and the RACT Insurance Player of the Year votes and leader board every Tuesday.
Each week the sporting journalists from The Advocate, The Examiner and The Mercury will be casting votes at Wrest Point State League games in their respective regions.
RACT Insurance will also become a Major Partner of Australian Football in Tasmania via AFL Tasmania.
The General Manager AFL Tasmania, Scott Wade, said:
âÂÂAttracting a major partner of the stature of RACT Insurance further emphasizes the growing support of our Wrest Point State League.
However, it is the support from RACT Insurance to enable us to professionally present the weekly state league teams and provide a fantastic individual award for the players that AFL Tasmania is most delighted about.
From day one AFL Tasmania has been committed to work with its business and media partners in an endeavour to promote the players and clubs in our new Wrest Point State League.
RACT Insurance, The Advocate, The Examiner and The Mercury have collectively enabled us to achieve our objective.âÂÂ
The Chief Executive of RACT Insurance, Trent Sayers, said:
âÂÂRACT Insurance was attracted to work with AFL Tasmania because of the new Wrest Point State League and the strong links between the game and the Tasmanian community â the whole state!
RACT Insurance has a long tradition of supporting community activities and there is probably nothing that engages The Tasmanian community more than Australian football.âÂÂ
Mr Sayers highlighted that an estimated 100,000 Tasmanians are actively involved in Australian football each week; from players and coaches, to administrators, umpires and volunteers.
âÂÂIt is an activity which reaches into just about every level of every community and we saw the new state league as ultimately a grass roots community activity deserving our supportâÂÂ.
In addition, the RACT, RACT InsuranceâÂÂs sister organisation, recently commenced a football tipping competition on its website (www.ract.com.au) for the Tasmanian state league as a way of supporting the league by promoting public interest in the game. The competition has already attracted extensive support amongst tipsters.
Mr Sayers said that in addition to the RACT Insurance Player of the Year, the company was continuing to explore with AFL Tasmania other ways in which to assist the league through support at the community base of the game.
