The Competition
The Netball competition will be held in accordance with the rules of the International Netball Federation (IFNA). All preliminary and classification matches will be held at the State Netball Hockey Centre and the finals will be held at Melbourne Park.
The schedule for the Netball competition will have 12 nations competing in a women-only event. The competition format consists of two pools of six teams playing each other in a round-robin tournament, with the two leading teams in each pool advancing to the finals to play for the single gold medal on offer.

Only Fiji and Samoa from the Pacific Islands will be represented at
these Commonwealth Games, a tough call for Cook Islands and Papua New
Guinea who also sit in the top twelve teams on world rankings.
Cook Islands finished third in theri Pool at the 1998 Commonwealth
Games while Fiji managed a 7th place finish in Manchester, 2002.
Australia and New Zealand have won the Gold and Silver respectively
at each of the last two Commonwealth Games.
