Coffs Basketball personnel make a big impact at International event:

National junior (19 and under) men’s and women’s teams from Australia, Fiji, Tahiti, Vanuatu, New Zealand, Guam, New Caledonia and American Samoa attended the tournament, which included player, coach and referee clinics, a 3-on-3 tournament, HIV and anti-doping clinics, a cultural performance night, selection of an All Star team and over 50 games of basketball.

Matt and Regan assisted the AIS’s Patrick Hunt with the player and coach clinics and the All Star selection process, while Sarah was able to use her extensive referee knowledge to educate Pacific Island referees.  After the tournament, FIBA Oceania Secretary General Steve Smith said “The tournament was a great professional development opportunity for Matt and Sarah.  They both have outstanding credentials, and being located in Coffs Harbour, meant we were able to organise and plan the education program for coaches and referees more easily than in previous years.  They were both valuable additions to our staff for the tournament, and their contributions were recognised by the visiting teams.  I know Matt has already received an email from the National team coach in Tahiti, asking for advice and assistance, while yesterday Sarah received a lovely bunch of flowers from the Australian referees, thanking her for her work at the tournament.”
