New South Wales' Illawarra region has established the first Youth Girls competition in the State. Last year, two girls in the region were deemed too old to continue playing in their junior football teams alongside their male counterparts. As a result, AFL NSW/ACT worked tirelessly to establish the new four team competition.
This is an exciting development in the Youth Girls journey, with Victoria, Queensland, Western Australia, the ACT and New South Wales all now having their own Youth Girls compeitions.
