Sixty of AFL Victoria's newest Youth Girls aged 13-18 took to the field at AH Capp Reserve in West Preston on Saturday for round 1 of the new northern Youth Girls competition. Teams from Darebin, Jacana, Lalor Stars and St Damians enjoy a mixture of girls who've played junior football, Auskick, school football, as well as absolute beginners. A big crowd, filled mainly with parents, family and friends of players, was in attendance to watch two exciting games of football. The competition will continue through term 3, culminating in the inaugural Youth Girls grand final on Saturday September 13.
