2008 KLRC New Zealand Open titles all go off-shore
Chinese-Taipei won three, Hong Kong one and Mayalsia one, titles at the 2008 KLRC New Zealand Open
Finals night was a grand affair with a good enthusiastic crowd and the matches being beamed into millions of homes as we went live into New Zealand, Central China, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Phillipines, Brunei and the first ever live badminton into Africa.

Players, sponsors and guests enjoyed a North Shore City Council hosted lunch at the Takapuna Boating Club on the shores of Takapuna Beach before it was back to business on the badminton court.

Last Minute Changes to Entry Lists - Draw Released
Last minute withdrawals just prior to the draw for the tournament caused a few headaches for tournament organisers as the seeding lists has to be re-done with Indonesia withdrawing a significant number of their players along with Slovenia. All disappointing but a normal part of world tournaments at the moment as hard economic times hit the sport.

Entries have closed, the lists have been composed and the seedings have been decided for the 2008 KLRC New Zealand Open
The draw will be done on 28 October by the BWF

Hard Financial Times Hit Singapore
Singapore has withdrawn their players entered into the 2008 KLRC New Zealand Open due to "budgetary contraints" as advised to the Tournament Director Julie Carrel, by the Singapore High Performance Manager earlier this week

54 Indonesian players have entered the 2008 KLRC New Zealand Open providing some strong competition in the tournament.
The group is led by Mens Singles player Tommy Sugiarto who has a current world ranking of 38

World Number 3 Confirmed
The 3rd ranked woman in the world is set to play at the 2008 KLRC New Zealand Open. Zhou Mi representing Hong Kong is the defending champion, since winning the 2007 KLRC New Zealand Open she has gone from strength to strength winning the recent Macau Open, the China Masters Super-Series, the Korean Open, the Indian Gold Grand Prix and the Korea Super-Series

Two former New Zealand Open Men's Singles Champions are returning to New Zealand for the 2008 KLRC New Zealand Open.
Sairul Amar Ayob who won in 2005 and Tsuen Seng Lee who won in 2006 will both be looking for a second New Zealand Open title

Badminton New Zealand is pleased to announce that for a second year in a row KLRC will sponsr the New Zealand Open. KLRC is the Kuala Lumpur Racket Club and is a private club owned by Dato' Sri Andrew Kam Tai Yeow.
