10th Australian Masters Games Regatta
NOTICE OF RACE
(Draft 3rd July 2005)
The 10th Australian Masters Games Regatta will be conducted by
Adelaide Sailing Club and Cruising
Yacht Club of South Australia on behalf
of the Confederation of Australian Sport, the Organiser of the 10th
Australian Masters Games, on the waters of St Vincent's Gulf at West
Beach and North Haven from 9th - 14th October 2005.
Adelaide
Sailing Club is the Organising Authority for the Regatta and Sport Convenor for
Sailing for the 10th
Australian Masters Games.

1.
RULES
1.1
The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined
in The Racing Rules of Sailing.
1.2
The prescriptions and Special
Regulations of Yachting Australia will apply.
1.3
The Rules of the competing Class Associations will apply.
1.4
If there is conflict between rules or
regulations, other than RRS, the Sailing Instructions will prevail.
2.
ELIGIBILITY AND
ENTRY
2.1
The regatta is open to boats of all classes.
2.2
All
helmspersons shall be over the age of 35 as of 31st December 2005.
2.3
All crew
shall be over the age of 30 as of 31st December 2005.
2.4
Entries
shall be submitted to the 10AMG Registrations office, NOT to ASC or CYCSA.
2.5
Each participant shall complete a Games Entry form and
Sport Entry form available
on-line via the 10AMG website or by using the Sailing Entry Form included in
the 10AMG Registration Booklet.
2.6
The helm shall complete the list of Crew in the
entry.
2.7
Registrations
will close on Friday 5th August 2005 at 5pm.
2.8
Late
entries may be accepted after negotiation with the 10AMG Registrations Manager
and the Sport Convenor for Sailing.
2.9
No
restrictions will apply on the number of boats participating, however
acceptance of late entries may be influenced by the number and classes of boats
already entered.
2.10
Rule 46 will apply - the designated person in charge
of a boat shall be a member of a Club affiliated to an MYA and YA, or, if an
international competitor, a member of a club affiliated to an ISAF recognized
member National Authority.
2.11
The Organising Authority has applied to YSA for dispensation
from Rule 55 so that participants (excluding the designated person in charge of
each boat) are not required to be a member of a Club affiliated to an MYA and a
member of an MYA and YA.
3.

3.1
Required fees, as detailed in the 10AMG Registration Booklet, are:

3.2
The fees
shall accompany the entry.
3.3
Fees for Welcome Night and Presentation Dinner will be
payable on registration at each venue.
4.
VENUES
4.1
The
regatta will conducted at the following venues:

on the foreshore at West Beach
Cruising Yacht Club South
Australia situated at the North Haven Marina.
4.2
The maps on Attachment
1 show the locations of the clubs and the approximate racing areas.
5.
REGATTA FORMAT
5.1
Racing will be conducted in twelve divisions.
5.2
Results within each division will be based on
Yachting Victoria yardstick or back-calculated handicap (BCH).
5.3
The divisions, the classes which will compete in each
division, the venue at which the division will compete, and the method for results
calculation are:

5.4
Other
divisions may be included if sufficient entries are received at the discretion
of the Organising Authority.
5.5
Within each division, where a definable class has 10
boats or more entered that class will be allocated its own start, separate finishing results and prizes.
6.
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
6.1
The
sailing program will comprise an invitation race and 8 races with a lay day. No
sailing will be conducted on the lay day allowing competitors to plan their
"day off". Sailing will be strictly 2 races maximum per day. A social program
of welcome night barbecue and presentation dinner will be conducted at each
venue in addition to the 10AMG social program. Competitors are invited to
participate in ASC and CYCSA club racing on the afternoons of Saturday 8th and
Saturday 15th October. These events will not be part of the 10AMG
Regatta, but will provide competitors an opportunity to familiarise with the
environment. Competitors are also invited to participate in an "exchange sail"
between ASC and CYCSA on the afternoon of Saturday 15th October.

participant is required to register for the 10AMG at the Games Centre.

7.
MEASUREMENTS
7.1
Each boat may be required to provide proof of holding a valid measurement or
rating certificate.
8.
SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
8.1
The sailing instructions will be available at
registration.
9.
THE COURSES
9.1
The courses to be sailed will described in the sailing
instructions.
10.
PENALTY SYSTEM
10.1
Rules 44.1 and 44.2 are changed for Divisions 11 and
12 only so that only one turn, including one tack and one gybe, is required.
11.
SCORING
11.1
The Low Point System of Appendix A will apply.
11.2
Two (2) races are required to be completed to
constitute a series.
11.3
When fewer than 5 races have been completed, a boat's
series score will be the total of her race scores.
11.4
When from 5 to 6 races have been completed, a boat's
series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score.
11.5
When 7 or more races have been completed, a boat's
series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her two worst
scores.
12.
HAUL-OUT RESTRICTIONS
12.1
Keel boats shall not be hauled out during the regatta
except with and according to the terms of prior written permission of the race
committee.
13.
DIVING EQUIPMENT
AND PLASTIC POOLS
13.1
Underwater breathing apparatus and plastic pools or
their equivalent shall not be used around keel boats between the preparatory
signal of the first race and the end of the regatta.
14.
RADIO COMMUNICATION
14.1
A boat shall neither make radio transmissions while
racing nor receive radio communications not available to all boats. This
restriction also applies to mobile telephones.
15.
PRIZES
15.1
10AMG
Gold, Silver and Bronze medals will be presented to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd
placegetters respectively within each Division in accordance with the 10AMG
Medal Policy.
15.2
10AMG
Gold, Silver and Bronze medals will be presented to 1st, 2nd and 3rd
placegetters respectively in any class that qualifies under Rule 6.4.
15.3
Additional
prizes may be presented at the discretion of the Organising Authority.
16.
PRESENTATION OF MEDALS
16.1
Medals
will be presented at the Presentation Dinners on the evening of 15th
October 2005
17.
DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
17.1
Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at
their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not
accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained
in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.
18.
INSURANCE
18.1
Each participating boat shall be insured with valid
third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of AU$10 million
