Saturday 15th of October 2005
The Adelaide Mountain Bike Club will be staging ithe XC MTB race of the 10th Masters Games on Saturday 15th of October.
DIRECTIONS TO FOX CREEK TRACK
The easiest way is up the south eastern freeway. Turn off at the Hahndorf interchange, and turn left at the roundabout to Verdun. Then Turn Right onto the Onkaparinga way at the next round about. Follow this road through Balhannah and Oakbank. As you come into Woodside there is a second hand shop on your left and after this a road (Tiers Road) which has signs to Lenswood. You follow this until you get into Lenswood and then turn left and immediately then turn right where it says Coldstore Road. Keep following this road until you come to Edwards Hill Road. Turn left and follow this to the top of Croft Road (dirt) and turn right and follow it round to the triangle at the entrance to Fox Creek.
Coming from Gorge Road - go through Cudlee Creek, turn right where it says to Lobethal. Keep going along this road for a while but get ready for a right turn after a red house at the road that says Fox Creek Road. Keep going along this road for a while until you come to a dirt road which will have the AMBC signs up and is Croft Road. Turn right. Keep going a long this until you come to an area called Springkeld Reserve - there should be lots of cars.
There is a map on our web site
www.amtbc.com in the race info tabs.
PARKING
Do Not park on the roadway of Croft Road. Parking will be inside the gate, along the road to Thomas Hill, and on the grassed area outside of the race track. We need to get as many cars as we can inside of the gate to avoid traffic issues on croft road.
CAMPING
Sorry, there is no camping available at the event.
TEAM AND SPONSOR TENTS
Team tents and sponsor tents etc can be set up at the start finish line area.

PRACTICE DURING THE EVENT
The track is closed for practice from the start of morning racing (10.30am) until 12.00pm. Riders who are practicing the track must not impede any competitor who is competing in the morning event. Please do not ride in front, or directly behind a morning competitor when practicing.
If you are doing a practice lap on race day, please do not ride through the start finish line, as it complicates time keeping. Also, once you have finished, please do not ride thro the finish line again. Either go around, or cover your plate.
TIMEKEEPING DURING THE EVENT
Please do not stand in front of the time keeping tent during the race, or when you finish. The time keepers need to see the riders coming through the finish line. Also while the event is in progress, do not ask the time keepers questions as they need to concentrate on correctly recording numbers.
RACE PLATES
You will be issued with a race plate
Please ensure that your race plate is firmly attached to the front of your bike, and is fully visible to the timekeepers. If we cannot see your plate, we WILL NOT record your time. The onus in on the competitor to ensure the race plate is attached to their bike at all times during the event.
SIGN-ON PROCEDURES
All competitors are required to register at the event on the morning of the event. A race plate will be issued, plus ties to enable you to attach the race plate to the front of your bike.
Please note that you must have already registered with the Australian Masters Games. You cannot enter the Australian Masters Games on the day at the event. You must also visit Sky City to activate you Masters Games Pass. Please bring this along to the event, with proof of age.
INSURANCE
All competitors require accident insurance cover. If you are a member of the Adelaide Mountain Bike club, you will be covered under our capital benefits accident insurance. If you are a member of inside line, or another club you must be a current MTBA card holder. If you are a member of Bike SA, you must provide proof that you have accident insurance through Bike SA's insurance.
If you do not meet the above requirement, then you will need to be signed up as a day member to the Adelaide Mountain bike club. This can be done on the day at the event. There will not be any additional charge for a day membership.
RACE PLATES
Why is your plate so important? On our timing system you are tracked by your number/name/category.
COURSE MARKINGS
The track is marked out with 20x20cm white/red arrows. Where there is an arrow on both sides of the race track, the rider must pass through this "Gate".
ALTERNATIVE ROUTES - CLARIFICATION ON WHO GIVES WAY
We have provided some alternative routes around obstacles. If you choose to use the alternative route, you must give way to riders who have ridden the obstacle, when you re-enter the race line. This will prevent collisions between riders. The alternative lines are slower lines, so the rider who rides the obstacle will be travelling faster.
RIDERS WHO DO NOT FINISH
If you decide that you are not going to start or finish the race, can you let the timekeepers know as soon as you can. This is important, as we need to know where all riders are, so that we know when everyone is finished.
OUTSIDE ASSISTANCE
In line with our (and international rules) all competitors must be self sufficient - you must carry your own tools and spares. You can only receive food, water and eyewear during the event.
LITTERING AT THE EVENT
One of the conditions of use of this area for racing is that we clean up all litter. This is getting increasingly difficult, and also frustrating with the number of gel packs that have to be picked up as the track is packed up. If you are one of the offenders who are dropping used gel packed, please stop doing this, and place them in your jersey, or somewhere that is not on the ground!
FOOD
Food will be available, with the normal selection from the BBQ. If you want to pre-order, please see Hans at catering in the morning. Coffee will be available in environmentally friendly cups for $1.50 and 50c for a refill if you keep you cup.
There will also be lots of soft drinks, Bratwurst, sausages and Mars Bars.
RACE CANCELLATION PROCEDURE
However if it looks like it is going to rain all night and day, please confirm on the club mobile 0408 840 610, that the race is going ahead. It is unlikely that the event will be cancelled.
