Dance will be run under the rules and regulations of the 10th Australian Masters Games and The Australian Rock'n'Roll Dancesport Council Inc. Where necessary the rules of The Australian Dancing Board and Dancesport Australia will be adopted.It will be the responsibility of each competitor to make themselves aware of any rules pertaining to their event. Not knowing a rule will be no means for protest or appeal.
Event Specific Rules
- All competitors must be 30 years of age or older.
- All Dancers must be registered with the 10th AMG.
- All Dancers must produce 10th AMG proof of registration when collecting numbers.
- All competitors in Showdance/Cabaret, Club Latino or Theatre Arts are not required to be registered other than with the 10th AMG.
- A Competition Dancer is defined as one who has been graded or registered with the ARRDC or ARRDC recognized and/or affiliated body. Whether this registration is current or previous, at state or National Level.
- Dancers competitng in the competition dancer section or any rock'n'roll graded event are required to hold a current registration card.
- Proof of level may be required for the competition dancer section.
- A Social dancer is one who has never been registered with any dance body, current or previous.
- Social Dancers are not required to be registered other than with the 10th AMG.
- Competition Dancer Beginner will be the equivalant of E grade.
- Competition Dancer Intermediate will be the equivalant of D grade.
- Competition Dancer Advanced will be the equivalant of C grade and above.
- Competition Dancer Open will be open to all competition Dancer levels.
- Social Dancer Beginner will be considered to have had no longer than 6 months dancing.
- Social Dancer Intermediate will be considered to have had no longer than 2 years dancing.
- Social Dancer Advanced will have been dancing more than 2 years.
- Social Open will be open to all social dancer levels.
- Open Invitational will consist of Professional Dancers, Teachers and Coaches only.
- Professional events are restricted to Professional dancers, teachers and coaches only.
- Adjudicators are not permitted to compete in pro am events.
- Same sex social dancers will follow the same level guidelines as outlined above.
- Same Sex competition Beginner will be considered to be of E grade standard or have been competing for up to 12 months.
- Same sex competition Intermediate will be considered to be of D grade standard or have been competing up to 2 years.
- Same sex competition Advanced will be considered to be C grade and above or have been dancing competition for over 2 years.
- Same sex competition Open is Open to all same sex competition dancers but excludes professionals.
- Same sex professionals must compete in the professional category.
- Amateur Dancers Dancing Open to all team section will not be required to register as professional dancers and teachers however professionals within this section must hold a current registration card
- All professionals, teachers and coaches competing in the Open Invitational or Professional events are required to be registered with the ARRDC or a body recognized by the ARRDC.
- Open Invitational may consist of the successful competitors from the open categories in each age group.
- All competitors must be within the age group to be contested or older, eg; gent is 32 years of age, his partner is 52 the age group to be contested is 30+. For age calculations refer to the 10th AMG guidelines.
- No dancing up or down in age categories.
- All Dancers may dance their own grade and the next grade up for the 10th AMG.
- Teams are required to abide by the age ruling as laid out by the 10th AMG.
- The Games Medal Policy will apply to all events conducted on Saturday October 8, 2005 and Sunday October 9, 2005.
- A $10.00 refundable deposit is required for your number.
- All numbers must be attached in a safe manner and be clearly visible to all adjudicators.
- One member from each team, troupe, Duo, trio or crew must wear a number.
- Team Dancers also dancing in individual events must wear a separate number.
- All numbers must be returned at the completion of your last event and before presentations.
- Unless otherwise stated all dance events will consist of one track of music.
- All Freestyle events will consist of 2 tracks of music- 1st track dance only, second track liftwork. Both Dances will be adjudicated in this event.
- Unless otherwise stated - World time limits will apply to all events.
- Team, Showdance and Cabaret entries must comply with a 2.5 minute minimum and a 5.20 minute maximum time limit including entry and exit.
- Teams are only permitted one entry per age and style category. That is - one entry per age and category of the same team. The same team is considered to be where 20% or more are competing in the same event.
- Cabaret Dance must have at least 3 tempo changes and must contain a theme.
- Hip Hop Dancers are required to display an overall feel for the style. Start Finish and Originality will be considered in the final scores. Both stage and street Hip Hop will be accepted in this event.
- Same sex Couples will compete against other same sex couples within the dance component of the 10th Australian Masters Games.
- Same sex couples will dance against other same sex couples of same gender unless entries are not adequate to support this. In which case same sex female couples will compete alongside same sex male couples.
- Same sex couples are not required to be registered other than with the Masters Games.
- Same sex couples are not required to hold a registration card to compete in the same sex competition dancer section of the Masters Games
- Same sex couples participating in the 10th Australian Masters Games Dance events will abide by the rules as is laid out in this document.
- Same sex couples must dress according to their gender in the style being danced, that is same sex females must both dress as females and same sex males must both dress as males.
- All competitors are required to dance the style of the event entered as laid out in definitions and/or competition rules.
- Music will be provided by the Organisers of the 10th Australian Masters Games Dance Component for all solo, duo and trio events, all club latino new vogue ballroom and rock'n'roll couple events and Progressive Teams.
- Formation teams, Theatre arts teams and competitors in Showdance/cabaret are required to supply their own music on CD with a cassette back up
- All competitors must dress according to the style being danced.
- All dancers must report to the marshalling area 3 items prior to their own event being run.
- Any dancer who is unable to take the floor for any reason must notify the organiser in adequate time prior to the event being run, failure to do so may result in disqualification for the remainder of the dance component of the 10th Australian Masters Games.
- All mobile phones must be turned off whilst in the auditorium during the 10th AMG Dance event.
- Persons disqualified from the dance component of the Masters Games will not be entitled to any refund of monies paid.
- No advertising is permitted on competition attire.
- Keepsakes or luck charms are not permitted on the dance floor.
- No Dancer shall take the floor in an event that he/she has not been entered into.
- No Dancer is permitted to leave the floor during their event except in the case of an emergency, in which case one or both partners must raise their hand to notify the organiser of an incident.
- In the event of an accident/incident on the floor, the event will be stopped until such time as it is clear to resume.
- In the event of an emergency all persons must take directions from venue staff and Dancesport personnel.
- Those competitors who are unable to attend or compete due to circumstances beyond their control and who have entered events in the 10th AMG, must notify the organiser in writing prior to Thursday October 6, 2005.
- Replacement participants will only be accepted up until the close of entries.
- Unless otherwise stated by the ARRDC the Close of entry date and time is final.
- Adjudication will be conducted under the Skating System.
- Protest proceedures will be as per ADB rules.
- A Protest and Appeals Assistant has been appointed for the 10th Australian Masters Games. The assistant will be responsible for directing event issues to the relevant board.
- All protests/appeals must be directed to the event Protest and Appeals assistant.
- ALL protests must be made immediately following the event disputed and no later than 10 minutes after the event being run.
- All protests must follow protest proceedures and the Chairman of Adjudicators will determine the outcome.
- In the event of an appeal, the Appeals Board will hear any objections to the ruling and the Appeals Chairman and the board will detemine the outcome. No further correspondence will be entered into.
- In the event of a dispute, proof of age may be required.
- No correspondence is permitted between an adjudicator and competitor regarding performance or result.
- Problems arrising at the event excluding protests should be directed to a member of the dance committee or the Games Dance Co-ordinator immediately.
- All competitors are required to remain in full costume for presentations.
- All competitors are required to be wearing their 10th AMG accreditation pass for presentations.
- All competitors must conduct themselves in a sportsman like manner.
- Video Cameras are subject to a $15.00 fee and is restricted to hand held cameras only. The official receipt must be attached and clearly visible at all times.
- Any person not complying with the ARRDC and associated rules including any rules of amendment, event specific rules, rules and regulations as laid out by the 10th AMG and any rules of the relevant dance style governing body will without hesitation be disqualified for the remainder of the 10th Australian Masters Games Dance component.
- A copy of ARRDC rules and other relevant rules will be displayed at the competition venue from 3pm on the day prior to the event being commenced until close of event.
- Any questions regarding rules should be directed through the Protest and Appeals Assistant.
