Competition Info
The Australian Masters Games are the largest multi-sport festival in Australia and is definitely one you must put on your calender.
Saturday October 8th and Sunday October 9th 2005 from 10am.
Mawson Lakes Sports Centre.
Anyone 30 years and over can be involved in this magnificent event.
Dance Styles
Ballroom, Latin, Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, Funk,
New Vogue, Showdance, Cabaret, Club Latino, Ceroc, Club Rock, Jive,
50's Rock'n'Roll, Rockabilly, West Coast Swing, East Coast Swing, Slow Swing, Swing Jive, Lindy Hop, Continental, Freestyle Mixed Style and Mixed Style Triples.
Age Groups contested 30+ 40+ 50+ 60+ 70+ 110+Combined age
All Levels from Social dancer to Professional dancer.
Entrants will compete in their own age group, at their own level. It doesn't matter if you are a Saturday night dancer or a serious competition dancer there is something there for you.
Participants will also be invited to join in the many festivities on offer during the games, including the opening ceremony, mid-week party and closing ceremony.
The event is insured by the governing body and by the 10th Australian Masters Games and will be adjudicated by qualified adjudicators from the relevant dance bodies.

Levels
Social Dancers have never been registered with any dance body.
A social beginner will have been dancing no more than 12 months.
A Social Intermediate Dancer will have been Dancing no more than 2 years.
A Social Advanced Dancer will have been dancing more than 2 years.
Competition Dancers will have been registered to dance in graded events whether this registration is current or previous is not relevant.
A beginner Competition Dancer is considered to be E Grade.
A Intermediate Competition Dancer is considered to be D Grade.
A Advanced Competition Dancer is considered to be C Grade and above.
A Professional dancer may only dance in the Open Invitational sections.
Events
Mixed Style Rock'n'Roll any style of rock'n'Roll can be danced levels are Social - Beginner,Advanced,Open and Social to B grade Open.
Mixed Style Rock'n'Roll Freestyle any style of Rock'n'Roll with liftwork. Open Category only.
Theatre Arts
Theatrical, Jazz, Tap, Hip/Hop, Funk, Contemporary/Creative may be danced as a Solo, Duo/Trio or a troupe. Music will be provided for solo and Duo/Trio events but troupes are required to select their own music. Please contact the organiser to obtain a copy of the music.
Club Latino
Salsa, Meringue, Mambo, Lambada, Arg/Tango, Ceroc.
Beginner, Advanced and Open categories.

Social Dancer

Beginner/E grade-T/L Waltz, La Bomba. Intermediate/D grade-T/L Waltz, La Bomba, Merilyn. Advanced/C&B grade- Swing Waltz, La Bomba, Merilyn, B/Blues.

Rock'n'Roll
All levels - Social, E, D, C, B, Open and Open Invitational
Styles include 50's Rock'n'Roll, Jive, Slow Swing, East Coast/Swing Jive, West Coast Swing/Wesrern Swing, Rockabilly, Lindy Hop, Continental and Freestyle Rock'n'roll.
Mixed Style Triples-consisting of 3 persons dancing any style of Rock'n'Roll.
Levels are Social, Open and Open Invitational
Progressive Teams Open selections are : Jive or RnR, Latin-Cha-Cha and New Vogue-Gypsy Tap.
Formation Team Any Style Own Music Open Category and new event Open to all. Dancers may enter more than one team.
Showdance/Cabaret Any Style own music Beginner and Advanced grades.
Same sex couples are invited to compete against other same sex couples in all facets of the Dance Component of the Masters Games competition. Dancers must mark their entry same gender in order to compete in these events. The 10th AMG Dance committee propose that separate events for female and male couples are preferable, however, if the number of entrants is not adequate to support this, female and male couples may compete together.
