NCBA COVID-19 Update #3 - FNBB + other programs Cancelled

NCBA COVID-19 Update #3:

North Canterbury Basketball Association has decided to cancel the McDonalds Friday Night Basketball Competition for the remainder of term 1, effective immediately.

This decision has been based on communication with a number of schools and families, the lead of other local codes about what is best for our NC basketball community.

A number of schools have now restricted access to outside groups and this has also had to be taken into consideration as we loose court space for planned programs and competitions.

Furthermore, the Coaches Clinic on Thursday 19th (tonight) is also canceled, along with Sunday the 22nd of March SIPT trainings.

The status of Hoops and Stars, and the South Island Primary Tournament in April will be reviewed over the weekend once more information and directives from Basketball New Zealand and the government has been announced in the coming days.

Given the situation with COVID-19 is constantly changing we continue to ask everyone involved in basketball to support one another and follow the official government guidelines, and we will also be reviewing activity daily based on this advice.

We are asking our community to make sure they are up to date with the Ministry of Health’s COVID-19 webpage, particularly the health advice for the general public section.

REMEMBER:

  • Wash your hands
  • If you don’t need to travel overseas, then don’t. Enjoy your own back yard for a time.
  • If you’re sick, stay home
  • If you sneeze, do it into your elbow
  • Stop handshakes, hugs, and hongi
  • Please be mindful of the older citizens in your life. Check in on them, but if you’re sick, keep your distance
  • Anyone arriving from overseas must follow the self-isolation process
  • Do what is best for you and your communities to keep them safe and healthy.

We encourage our players to continue to grow your love of the game by learning and working on your individual game.

That's great - we want you to have your say and share your thoughts with the world. However, we have a few rules that you must follow to keep it fun for all. Please don't be rude, abusive, swear or vilify others. Apart from some pretty serious sport sanctions, we also can ban you and report you if things get out of hand. So play fair and have fun, and thanks for your contribution.
