Tour Trials

Congratulations. You have been chosen to trial to participate in two elite tournaments against Australian representative teams make up a development programme for Under-15 & U17 basketballers (31st December 2010). To be eligible for selection players need to be:

·                       looking for the development opportunity that 10 days of elite international competition provides young players at U15 and U17

       ·                       A Registered player with one of the Associations making up BBall Pacific

Trials for the January tour to Sydney Cup and the Slam in Port Macquarie will be held:

Trial Registration cost: $15 (covers 2 ½ hours of BBall skills development, plus information on player pathways) – all run by BBall Pacific Regional coaches

The Pacific Slam is held in Port Macquarie each January for Australian State Development teams in the Under-15 & Under-U17 age group (December 31st 2010).

Our Basketball Pacific teams will also participate in training and warm-up games in Sydney  Then we travel to Port Macquarie for the highlight of our tour, the Pacific Slam. 10 days of top class international basketball for U15 and U17 players in Sydney and Port Macquarie

The Pacific Slam tour is a cooperative initiative of the northern region BBall Assns. Northland, North Harbour, Counties-Manukau, Hamilton, Thames Valley, Rotorua, Basketball Waitakere City, West Auckland Basketball, and the Western Bays Assn

The cost for players to register to trial is $15 per player. (this covers 3 hours of BBall skills development, plus information on player pathways – all run by BBall Pacific Regional coaches. Players only need to attend ONE trial

Developed and administered by the same basketball administrators responsible for the Championships traditionally attended by our New Zealand Koru teams, we are keen to provide a development opportunity for the many younger junior basketballers in the Northern region who are bottom-age players in 2010. The tour is

·                     led by experienced basketball coaches and managers, including Kevin Goodwin, Teresa Cargo, and Ollie Bryce

·                     Provides a supporters tour

·                     Regional pre-Tour training camps (to improve individual skills &team development)

·                     high quality competition against Australian U15 & U17 State teams in Port Macquarie at the Pacific Slam

·                     Training & warm up games in Sydney

·                     Tour cost. Anticipated cost will be approx $2850.00). This covers all known costs: pre-tour camp, airfares, taxes, uniforms, accommodation, meals, tournament entry fees, team photo, and supervision. This lowered cost structure can only be achieved by the early payment of the deposit covering airfares

There will be an opportunity for trialists and their parents and guardians to ask questions at the two trial venues.
