NZ Breakers are looking apprentice player

The Burger King NZ Breakers are looking for elite home grown talent to be part of the extended training squad as an apprentice player for the upcoming 2010/11 Australian NBL season.

The apprentice player is a new position in the pathway, which looks to feed into the development positions then roster positions.

The club is seeking expressions of interest from players under 22 years that have the potential to graduate into a development player in the next few years.

Development players of the past have included Mika Vukona, Tom Abercrombie, Alex Pledger and Corey Webster.

The successful candidates will experience the culture of the Breakers club, as well as learning the skills needed to play at the professional level.

The programme will include, but is not limited to individual training, partaking in Breakers trainings where required, and being in and around the day-to-day logistics of the Breakers team, including video sessions, strength and conditioning and community events.

Athletes’ requirements will be on an individual basis dependent on the athletes’ personal situations.

Due to the latest NCAA rule changes this will not harm athletes eligibility to go to NCAA.

Expressions of interest must be in by October 8. For further information, please email assistant coach Judd Flavell at judd@nzbreakers.co.nz.
