Harbour U21 Girls - Bring back gold

Hall scored 18 of her game-high 24 points in the fourth period as Harbour broke open a 53-53 tie game after three quarters to win going away, 79-64, at the Queen Elizabeth Youth Centre.

After Porirua had pulled level with four straight free-throws to end the third frame, Hall scored eight of Harbours first 10 points to begin the fourth as they lifted the defensive intensity.

I dont know what it was, winning coach Angela Perrott-Hunt said, trying to find an explanation for her teams fourth quarter surge.

Something just triggers in those girls heads. When were all on the same page and we want something, were unstoppable. Im just not sure when Im going to get that from them. I just have to try to say something or do something to motivate them.

We didnt really change much. We just changed up our intensity. I said we just had to want it more.

Forcing Porirua into multiple turnovers bringing the ball up-court, Harbour reeled off a 14-2 to go up 67-55 with seven minutes remaining.

Hall, a dominating force inside and on the fast-break, also scored eight of Harbours last 10 points, while defensively they held Porirua to 11 points in the quarter.

just an incredible athlete, Perrott-Hunt said. unstoppable. She probably the best big in the country in the age-groups. She not just a big, she a fast big and we dont have many of those in New Zealand. We just have to nurture her.

Harbour Freda Riwai added 14 points, while Perrott-Hunt got valuable contributions from Milika Nathan, Mikayla Blair, Anna Lacey and Mieke Elkington.

Hall, Riwai and Nathan were all named to the women tournament team following the final.

Porirua, who led 39-34 late in the second quarter and were still in front mid-way through the third, got 16 points from Rhandelle Tuala-Fata and 12 points from forward Rebecca van Kuyk.
