NZCT to Support 2009 National Basketball League

The New Zealand Community Trust (NZCT) has offered significant financial support to the National Basketball League, with funding for league administration, along with referees travel and accommodation. In the absence of a major commercial partner for the 2009 league, the NBL Board has offered NZCT full naming rights for the competition, which will now be called the NZCT National Basketball League.

NZCT Chief Executive Officer, Mike Knell, said: Were delighted to continue contributing to the success of New Zealand Basketball. NZCT is a long standing supporter of basketball and the National Basketball League  its premier event and lifts the profile of New Zealand Basketball further.

This is what NZCT is all about achieving success for New Zealand sport through these kinds of partnerships.

NBL Chairman, Sam Rossiter-Stead, explained: NZCT is already a very significant supporter of basketball across the country, and offers a great deal of assistance to the NBL teams. This funding for the league as a whole will help to give the 2009 competition the financial security we need, as we look to develop new commercial partnerships for 2010 and beyond.

We have already witnessed a fantastic standard of competition this year and we are delighted that we can now build on that this kind of assistance.
