U15 Nationals Wellington Day 2

The girls came away with 2 wins on day 2 of the BBNZ U15 National Tournament being held at the new ASB Stadium in Kilbirnie. They played Rotorua first up in the morning and after a hard fought battle came away with a 67-53 win. (Scorers were Lilly O'Neill 22, Bayley Ransfield 16 and Shayla Adamson with 7 rebounds)

They then came up against the defending champs Waitakere West and continued their consistent offensive scoring trend winning the game 68-63. Despite a last bid desperate attempt in the final stages of the game by Waitakere, the NP girls showed great steel and held off the champs coming away with a 3-0 winning streak. (Bayley Ransfield 15, Lilly O'Neill 13, Teesha Smith 10. Top rebounder was Bayley Ransfield with 6)

This made them winners of Pool 4 and placed them squarely in the top 8 teams in the country. They play in the quarter finals on day 3 of the tournament.

The boys had a mixed day going down to a tough Canterbury team 48-98 in their morning game. Canterbury went onto to beat Harbour and take top of Boys Pool 3. They then went onto to beat Waikato B 85-70 in their final pool game placing them 3rd in their pool. They are now playing for one of the 9th - 16th spots in the tournament.

Nathan Morgan was the stand out player in the Waikato game scoring an impressive 25 points and pulling down 18 rebounds.
