U21 Nationals - NP Placed 4th - Davies in Tournament Team

2010 U21 Womens titleholders, New Plymouth gave it all in their semi final game going down 47-48 to the ultimate Tournament winners Harbour. New Plymouth tipped of the tournament on Thursday playing an under performing Auckland team recording a 82-29 win. Second game was a little more competitive but they still came out on the right side of the ledger with a 54-40 win.

Game 3 proved to be too tough against a strong Canterbury team and they finished up second in their pool with a 46-68 loss. The cross over game saw them come up against Harbour, home of the Breakers franchise. Both teams played plenty of defense and Harbour pipped the New Plymouth team at the buzzer winning 48-47.

New Plymouth came up against fellow Zone 3 team, Hutt Valley to determine third and fourth place. The NP women had left everything on the floor in their semi final game and were a little underdone going down 50-64. Last year New Plymouth took the tournament title and it was always going to be a big ask to repeat that in 2011. A number of new players were bought into the team this year with key 2011 players moving on.

Fourth place in a tournament of this stature is a very respectable achievement. To top this off, Jasmine Davies was selected in the Tournament team.

Former New Plymouth Boys High player and NZ U18 Captain Max Williams was also named in the mens Tournament Team playing for Waikato.
