NPBA to Host Secondary School Prems

New Plymouth Basketball Association is pleased to announce that it will be hosting the BBNZ Zone 3 Secondary School Premierships this year. The tournament is scheduled for September 3 to 6 and will be held at the TSB Stadium supported by the New Plymouth Boys High and Francis Douglas Memorial College gyms.

Over 30 teams are expected to participate from Zone 3 which includes Wellington, Palmerston North to New Plymouth and across to Hawkes Bay. They will all be playing for a top 6 qualifying spot which will enable them to go onto the BBNZ Secondary School National Tournament to be held in Palmerston North in early October.

It is hoped that all the Secondary Schools in Taranaki will take the opportunity to participate and give their basketball players an opportunity to develop and go onto the Nationals which is considered by some to be the best basketball tournament on the BBNZ calendar.

With the National Tournaments host allocated for the next two years, NPBA was thrilled to be offered the opportunity to host a Premiership tournament here in New Plymouth NPBA President Kevin Fenwick commented today. "The best secondary school talent in the Zone will be on display right here in New Plymouth and it will be a fantastic occasion to go along and take it all in."
