Overtime loss for Boys' High

New Plymouth Boys' High School finished eighth at the national secondary schools' basketball tournament in Nelson.

They lost their final game on Saturday, going down 64-58 to Auckland Grammar in overtime.

The scores were locked at 55-55 after normal time. Top scorers for Boys' High were Dane Brooks 19 and Derek Albertsen 17.

Jordan Harries from Boys' High was named in the tournament team. The boys' title was won by Westlake in a thrilling final against fellow Auckland college Rosmini. The Westlake team were led by Tall Black Tai Webster.

The girls' final was comfortably won by Hamilton Girls' High School over Mt Albert Grammar School.

New Plymouth Girls' High School ended their campaign with a 15-point win over Fraser High School from Hamilton, leaving them seventh overall.
