NPBHS Win the Inter Schools Super 8 Tournament

After defeating Hastings Boys by 5 in their pool play, BHS came up against them again in the Tournament grand final. They had too much fire power however eventually defeating Hastings by 20. Last year, BHS travelled to Hamilton for the tournament and they met up with Hamilton Boys in the final. They were too strong then and after retaining most of the team again this year, they proved too strong again in 2011.

Lachie Fenwick and Matt Wallace were named in the 5 man Tournament team at the end of the weekend.

The boys all aged between 16 to 18, have been consistent throughout the season winning most of their games against the more experienced men in the Premier league. They rounded off the minor league on top of the table with 25 points, a clear 5 points ahead of their nearest rivals, TBC Development. This included a couple of unavoidable defaults as they had to meet their school travelling commitments.

BHS travel again to Palmerston North in the week beginning August 22nd to compete in the BBNZ National Secondary Schools tournament with the aim of improving on their 2010 placing of 10th in the country. Before that, they meet up with TBC Development on August 17th in the semifinal of the Premier League to determine who goes straight through to the Grand Final for the year.

Come along 7:00pm August 17th, TSB Stadium to see these young guys and our other Premier team finalists in action.
