Behaviour, On-Court Infractions & Technical Fouls
Zero Tolerance for Abuse
- Any abusive behaviour toward referees, players, or spectators will trigger a disciplinary review on a case-by-case basis.
- The player and a team representative may be required to attend a disciplinary meeting.
1. Definition
- A technical foul is given for unsportsmanlike behaviour, misconduct, or any action deemed inappropriate by the officials, including:
- Abusive or disrespectful language toward referees, players, or spectators
- Deliberate delay of game or arguing calls
- Excessive or aggressive physical contact outside normal play
2. Warnings
- First minor incident may result in a verbal warning from the officials.
- Repeated minor infractions or serious misconduct may lead to immediate penalties.
3. Penalties
- Technical foul during the game:
- Opponents awarded 2 free throws
- Team retains possession according to standard basketball rules
- Accumulated technical fouls may lead to additional penalties, including suspension.
4. Suspensions
- Players who receive a technical foul for serious unsportsmanlike conduct may be suspended from the following game.
- Repeated offenses can result in longer suspensions or removal from the competition.
- Players receiving 3 or more technical fouls in a season (excluding flopping or bench-technical fouls) will be automatically stood down for the following game.
5. Reporting
- All technical fouls and disciplinary actions are recorded by officials after the game in writing.
- Any disputes are handled by the BBMC Competition Committee, whose decision is final.
- Any ejection or disqualifying foul will trigger a disciplinary review before the next game.
- Repeat offenders may face further sanctions, including suspension from multiple games.
