Under 11s boys A team look set for exciting future
The future at Basketball Waitakere City is looking very bright indeed after the Under 11 Boys A rep team won all 11 of it's games to clean sweep the Intercity season and the Pacific Slam Easter Tournament with an average win margin of 45 points! The season ended with a comfortable win in the final against Harbour 63-15.
The team, led by captain and MVP Delaney Puata-Chaney, played a fast breaking freestyle game which were as entertaining to watch as any Pro game!
The coaches are proud of the way the team played and grew together as a tight knit group of friends. Needless to say, the coaches are also excited about the future given five players are returning as under 11s again next year and the boys are already making plans for the under 13 boys nationals in a few years time.
The team's success was a direct result of hard work starting back in November 2007 with BWC's Summer Development Program where players of all ages were invited to attend and develop their basketball skills in a competitive yet fun environment at the Trusts Stadium.
The results of this camp were clear for everybody to see when the BWC U11 boys, U17 Boys and U19 Girls all won their respective Intercity Finals held last weekend at the Waitakere Trusts stadium.
