Coach
Regional/cluster camps - lead coach, assistant coach
Koru Tour - coach
Manager
Regional/cluster camps - lead manager, assistant manager
Koru tour - team manager
Staff involved in Basketball New
- BBNZ Regional Camps
- BBNZ Cluster Camps
- BBNZ Koru Development Tour
Individual positions in specific team and/or camp programmes will be selected from coaches and managers committed to Basketball New
If you are interested in being involved in any of the programmes above, you should submit your expression of interest. From these EOIs, BBNZ will select a pool of candidates based on the criteria below to be involved in the development programme.
Selection for specific camp and/or team programmes will come from these people.
It is essential that all candidates possess the following general attributes:
- committed and enthusiastic to be involved in BBNZ programmes, displaying loyalty to BBNZ, and development programmes and personnel
- will act as a positive ambassador and spokesperson for BBNZ
- demonstrated commitment to a long term athlete-centred development philosophy
- sound communication and team building skills
- a willingness to share information and experiences with other members of the basketball community
- actively pursuing other opportunities for professional development
- a member in good standing of their respective association/school – every candidate must have their local association’s endorsement
It is desired that coaches possess the following basketball attributes:
- Level One coaching certification
- a developing knowledge of technical and tactical aspects of basketball
- a developing knowledge of the required skill and training levels for aspiring developmental level athletes
- experience coaching developing athletes and a demonstrated commitment to athletes’ long term development
- willingness to assist BBNZ in implementing a national philosophy and common playing outcomes
- actively coaching within association and/or school programmes
It is desired that managers possess the following basketball attributes:
- a developing knowledge of managerial roles and responsibilities
- sound administration and budgetary skills adhering to all BBNZ policies and procedures
- sound organisation and interpersonal skills, as well as creative thinking skills
- ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritise appropriately in a fast-paced environment
- ability to work in conjunction with coaching staff and BBNZ personnel to satisfactorily execute programme requirements
- some experience managing in a tournament environment and/or with traveling teams
