BWC U21 Men Makes Finals!!! GO BWC !
With wins on Friday, Porirua and Waitakere booked their places in Saturday's men's final at the Oreo Under-21 National Championships in Wellington.
Porirua survived two scares on day three of the championships at Southwest Stadium, beating Palmerston North 104-99 in overtime and then holding off a fourth quarter comeback to defeat Nelson 84-76, to remain undefeated at 6-0, with the last round of pool play to complete on Saturday morning.
Waitakere confirmed their place alongside Porirua with a 97-63 win over North Harbour in the last game of the day. Waitakere and North Harbour could still end pool play with identical 5-2 records but Waitakere would own the head-to-head countback.
Wellington moved unbeaten through to the women's final against Hutt Valley with a 69-57 win over Waitakere. Hutt Valley beat Canterbury 69-52 on Friday morning to secure their final berth, before losing their final section game 60-53 to Nelson.
The women's final starts at 3.15pm and the men's final at 5pm.
