Competition Briefing for Pool Events
Swimming will hold two competition briefings for all team managers one on Sunday 13 May from 11:00am and the other on Tuesday 15 May from 12:00pm at the Casuarina Swimming Pool. These meetings are important for all to attend.
Competition Briefing for 5km Open Water Event
Swimming will hold one competition briefing for all team managers on Friday 18 May at the Casuarina Pool. The meeting will be held at the completion of the morning session of the pool events.

A competition program is available from this site. Click on 'Documents' and download the swimming program. Please note that warm up for heats on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday morning starts at 6:30am. Warm up for finals sessions starts at 2:30pm.
International Participation in Swimming
As at 5 May 2007, swimming will have the following international teams competing:
Singapore, PNG, Brunei, New Zealand, Philippines, Fiji, Macau, Malaysia, New Caledonia, Tahiti and Korea.

Event Details
The swimming competition will be held from Wednesday 16 May to Saturday 19 May, 2007. Competition proper for pool events will commence on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at 8:00am for heats sessions and 4.00pm on those days for finals sessions.
Separate events will be held for male and female swimmers in the following age groups: 12 years and under, 13/14 years, 15/16 years, 17 years and over, Open (limited events) and multi disability.
A swimmer may compete in his/her age group and open events only. An invitational 100 metre freestyle event will also be held. No entry standards will apply and heats will be seeded in accordance with FINA Rules.
A new event to the swimming meet is an open water 5km swim for swimmers aged 14 and above. This race will be conducted at Lake Alexander, just out of Darwin city on Saturday 19 May. Registration for this event will commence at 7:00am at Lake Alexander with warm up between 7:00am and 8:00am. The race will commence promptly at 8:30am.
The multi-disability events also incorporate the Oceania Paralympic Championships.
Event Location
The competition will be held at Casuarina Swimming Pool, which is approximately fifteen minutes from the city area and five minutes from the Marrara Sporting Complex. The pool is 50 metres in length.
The event venue has wheelchair access to pool deck and some spectator areas. The venue has amenities suitable for disabled athletes and spectators.
Event Rules
The following events will be included in the Arafura Games swimming program:
The meet shall be conducted under the rules and policies of Swimming Australia Ltd. Protests are possible and will be dealt with under Swimming Australia Ltd Championships Bylaws with the exception that the jury of appeal shall be three other suitably qualified referees who are officiating during the meet. In the event of three referees not being available then the Meet Director shall fill any vacancy.
With regard to athletes who are competing in multi-disability events that do not fall within the parameters of the Oceania Paralympic Championship, these events shall be conducted under the rules and policies of Swimming Australia Ltd.

Classifications
Athletes with a disability should where possible provide details on their current classification before they arrive in Darwin. A classification service will be available for athletes who do not currently hold an up to date classification.
Athletes with an Intellectual Disability should be a member of AUSRAPID.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are we able to book lanes for training prior to competition?
Each team will be allocated training session time prior to the start of competition. However as the surf lifesaving events will be conducted at Casuarina pool on the day/s before the swimming competition, teams may be allocated a training session time at an alternative venue.
How much will it cost?
There is no registration fee to participate in the Arafura Games. However, you are responsible for costs associated with air travel, accommodation and daily living expenses. Arafura Games organisers provide transport to and from the airport to your place of accommodation, and to and from playing venues and accommodation. Arafura Games accreditation also provides free access to transportation using the Darwin Public Bus service.
How much will transport cost?
Arafura Games buses will provide all teams with airport transfers on arrival and departure. An official Games shuttle bus service will operate free of charge between accommodation houses and training and competition venues for all accredited participants. Identification tags must be worn at all times when accessing free transport.

What about accommodation for my team and officials?
Darwin has a variety of accommodation to suit all budgets, tastes and special requirements. Almost all of Darwin's accommodation houses are located close to the Central Business District (CBD) and a short drive from sporting venues. Accommodation bookings can be made through the Arafura Games Bedbank. What is accreditation?
If you are a competitor, team official, sport official or volunteer you must complete the accreditation form. This can be done either online or you can complete a paper accreditation form. If you choose to complete the accreditation form online, there is a `Guide to Accreditation' on the Arafura Website. From the Arafura home page just select the Sports and Results section, then select `Swimming' and then select `Documents'. You need to attach a passport-style photograph when you accredit online. If you choose to complete a paper accreditation form remember that you must also include a passport-style photograph with the form. Please write your full name and date of birth on the back of the photograph and send the form and photograph to Accreditation, GPO Box 1448, Darwin NT 0801, Australia.
How many relay teams can each team enter?
In accordance with the Arafura Charter, one team is allowed per contingent pr event. This means that a team can have a male and a female team entered for the 4x100m medley relay.
Can I nominate alternatives for my relay team?
You can nominate up to 4 alternatives when completing your swimming entries. However you must provide to the Meet Director the final relay list prior to the commencement of the session in which the relay event will take place.
How many swimmers can I enter per event?
There is no limit as to the number of swimmers a visiting team may enter per event. However the maximum number of entries permitted in individual sports is at the discretion of the Arafura Games organisers in the interest of enhancing the competition for member country participants.
