Throw SLSNT propose that competitors compete under ILS Rules, in both pool and ocean events and medal presentation be made to the teams with the highest combined point score across all events. The format maximises competitor participation and best develops the athletes across both disciplines. The program also provides teams with an opportunity to increase their competitive skills at ILS events.
2007 is officially labeled as the `Year of the Surf Lifesaver' to mark the 100th anniversary of Surf Life Saving Australia. Structured training sessions will be provided in Darwin for local and international teams and will be implemented by national coaches to fit around the competition schedule. Senior officials' proficient in both pool events and surf events to an International Standard will be available to provide technical advice to local and International officials. Open Water Events will be held over 2 Days. The Open water events will be scheduled according to tidal conditions and to compliment swimming events so participants may compete in swimming and lifesaving events.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are we able to use the facilities for training prior to competition?
There will be team training allocated prior to the events to allow teams to become familiar with the equipment used and coaching workshops for team coaches.
Will we need to bring our own equipment?
It is recommended that stinger suits be worn for the open water events due to the possible presence of box jellyfish in the water. The local Surf Clubs use stinger suits for their competition and we can give more information on this if required. Fibreglass fins will be used as specified in the ILS rules. Only a limited number of these are available so it is recommended that competitors bring their own. Sebakfins supply the appropriate fins and they can found on the internet at http://www.sebakfins.com/ SLSNT will supply the manikin as specified in the ILS rules. Specialized Craft is required for board and ski events - these can be sourced by prior arrangement with Surf Life Saving Northern Territory.
