Competition Briefing
Golf will hold a competition briefing for all team managers on Monday 14 May from 10:00am at the Darwin Golf Club, Marrara. This meeting is important for all to attend.
Competition Program
18 holes of Golf will be played daily from Tuesday 15 May through to Friday 18 May. Golfers will tee off from 9:00am daily.
Medal presentations will occur on Friday evening at the Golf Course.
International Participation in Golf
As at 5 May 2007, Golf will have golfers from the following international countries competing:
Singapore, Philippines, Fiji, Macau, Indonesia and Malaysia.

Welcome to the Golf Information Pages
The Golf Tournament will be a 72-hole Stroke Event played over four rounds of 18 holes each round. It will take place from Tuesday 15th - Friday 18th May.
The tournament is open to golfers with an official handicap of 12 or less for males and 18 or less for females.
All competitors must have the endorsement of their peak body.
There will be four categories:
Men, Women, Junior men and Junior women
Juniors must not have reached their 19th birthday by 15th May 2007
Events in all categories will include:
Individual - Gross & Nett
Team - Gross - Teams can be either 3 or 4 players.
State/Region, National Police and Fire Associations and Defence Forces may enter only one team nomination for each category.
All team members are included in the single events.
To participate in the Arafura Games participants must be accredited by the Arafura Games organising committee. Accreditation forms will be available online and through the Arafura Games office towards the end of 2006. To register interest in attending the Games, an Expression of Interest form can be downloaded from the left-hand menu on the main page. On receipt of your Expression of Interest, the Arafura Games office will send you more details and the official accreditation form when it is released. Accreditation for the Games closes on Friday 13th April 2007.
To be eligible for participation a competitor must comply with the Arafura Games' Charter as well as with the Rules & Regulations as set by the Golf Tournament Committee.

Event Details
The Committee and members of the Darwin Golf Club extend a warm welcome to all competitors in the Arafura Games 2007. The competition will run over four days from Tuesday, 15 May until Friday, 18 May 2007.
The individual Open Championships to be played will be:
Arafura Games Women's Open Championship;
Arafura Games Men's Open Championship;
Arafura Games Junior Girl's Open Championship; and
Arafura Games Junior Boy's Open Championship.
Outline details are:
* Each of these events will be 72 holes of stroke play with 18 holes being played on each day.
* The draw for Rounds 1 & 2 will not be seeded. Players can expect to play one morning round and one afternoon round.
* The draw for Rounds 3 & 4 will be a seeded draw for all players: there will not be a half way cut. Tee off times will be both morning and afternoon.
* The winners of each Championship will receive an Arafura Games Gold Medal, Runners-up will receive an Arafura Games Silver Medal and third place-getters will receive an Arafura Games Bronze Medal.
* In the event of a tie for first place after 72 holes, those players tying for first place shall continue over a sudden-death hole-by-hole play-off on holes determined by the Match Committee until a winner is determined.
The individual Nett events will be for those eligible players with an official Australian handicap or an overseas equivalent. Players with the best, second best and third best nett scores in each Championship category will be awarded Arafura Games Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals.
The Team events to be played will be:
Arafura Games Women's Teams Championship;
Arafura Games Men's Teams Championship;
Arafura Games Junior Girl's Teams Championship; and
Arafura Games Junior Boy's Teams Championship
Each Team shall consist of three or four players. In each of the Championship rounds, the total of the lowest three scores shall be the Team score for that round. The Team with the lowest four round total score shall be declared the winner.
Each of the three or four Team members of the Teams with the lowest three scores shall be awarded place-getter Gold, Silver or Bronze Medals.
Championship Committee
A Championship Committee will be appointed.
Eligibility
To be eligible to play, players must be nominated by no later than 30 April 2007. Individual nominations must include the players name, their handicap and date of birth if a junior. Team nominations must include the names of the three or four team players, their handicaps and date of birth if a junior. Proof of date of birth and handicap will be required upon registration prior to the first round of play. All team members are automatically entered in the individual event.
To be eligible to play, players must hold a current official national handicap of 12 or less for males and 18 or less for females and must be a registered member of a club that is affiliated with their National Golf Association.
To be eligible to play in the Junior categories, players must not have reached their 19th birthday by 15 May 2007.
In the event of nominations exceeding the number of places available, a handicap ballot will be conducted. Members of nominated teams will be exempted form the ballot.
To be eligible to play in nett events, players must produce proof of handicap prior to hitting off in the first round on the first day.
Event Location
The Darwin Golf Club is an 18 hole championship golf course designed for the tropics by Peter Thompson and Michael Wolveridge. It has a par rating of 72 for both men and women and the length is 6069 metres for men and 5314 metres for women.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will practice be available?
Practice will be available at the Darwin Golf Club on Monday, 14 May. Times should be booked with the Darwin Golf Club Pro Shop. Driving range facilities and a practice putting green are also available.
Can motorised carts be used?
A current medical certificate must be produced for a player to use a motorised cart. Hire carts will need to be booked through the Club's Pro Shop (telephone + 61 8 8927 1015).
Are pull buggies and caddies available?
Pull buggies are available for hire from the Club's Pro Shop. Caddies are not available.
What medals will be awarded?
Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals will be awarded for gross and nett scores in both the individual and teams events.
Event Rules
The Rules of Golf, as adopted by R&A Rules Limited, shall apply together with Local Rules as drawn up by the Match Committee.
Note: Alcohol will not be permitted on the course during tournament play.
