The Pacific Games Council and the Oceania Football Confederation have entered into an historic cooperative agreement to govern Football's participation in future editions of the Pacific Games.
Council President, Vidhya Lakhan, and OFC General Secretary, Tai Nicholas (both pictured), signed the agreement in Suva on 13 July 2009.
The cooperative agreement sets the stage for the Men's Football tournament at the 2011 Pacific Games in New Caledonia to also serve as the first round of Oceania Qualifying for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, and the Women's Football tournament to serve as a Qualification event for the London 2012 Olympic Games.
The agreement also commits OFC to providing more resources and support to the Pacific Games than is required from International Federations under the Games Charter, making this agreement a truly historic occasion for Oceania Football and the Pacific Games movement.
