Pacific Games Council President, Vidhya Lakhan, and Executive Director, Andrew Minogue, visited Honiara in the first week of July to inspect the Solomon Islands' Bid for the 2015 Pacific Games. Whilst in Honiara, the Council met with Prime Minister, the Hon. Derek Sikua (pictured at left), Opposition Leader, The Hon. Mannaseh Sogavare, and the Executive of the National Olympic Committee of Solomon Islands, led by President Fred Maetoloa (pictured with the Prime Minister and Council President).
The Council also attended the 31st Independence Day celebrations at the Lawson Tama Football Ground, one of the proposed venues for the 2015 Pacific Games.
The Council will also travel to inspect the other two 2015 Bids - Tonga in late July, and Papua New Guinea in early August - prior to the decision being made at the Council's annual general meeting in Rarotonga, Cook Islands, on 27 September.
