Three days of world class Weightlifting was one of the major highlights of the 2011 Pacific Games.
Papua New Guinea topped the medal tally with 14 gold medals closely followed by Samoa with 13, Fiji with 7, and Nauru wih 6 gold medals.
The depth and strength of Weightlifting in the Pacific continues to grow, with the Oceania Weightlifting Institute in Noumea providing a valuable legacy for the future of the sport in the Pacific.
Samoa's Ele Opeloge was once again the star of the show and is pictured here on her way to establishing a new Commonwealth Clean and Jerk record lift of 161kg in the over-75kg weight category.
Steven Kari of Papua New Guinea, who was named the 2011 Pacific Junior Athlete of the Year, also starred by obtaining new Oceania Junior records on his way to victory in the 85kg weight category.
