The Pacific Games Council is pleased to confirm that the Organising Committee in Wallis and Futuna ("COWF2013") is moving forward with its plans to stage the 2013 Pacific Mini Games.
In Noumea last week, the Pacific Games Council Executive Board met with the COWF2013 President, Secretary-General, and the new CEO and Assistant CEO, along with the Wallis and Futuna Sports Minister, and the President of the Wallis and Futuna Pacific Games Association (CTOS-WF).
COWF2013 also presented an update on their plans to member countries attending the annual General Assembly of the Oceania National Olympic Committees (ONOC).
The Pacific Games Council Executive Board noted with approval the funding model for COWF2013 which has recently been approved by the Wallis and Futuna Territorial Assembly.
This funding model and its initial appropriations has enabled COWF2013 to hire its first staff and commence the detailed planning necessary to deliver the 2013 Pacific Mini Games.
Part of this planning will include periods of secondment and dialogue with their fellow French-speaking counterparts at the New Caledonia 2011 Pacific Games Organising Committee.
A program of no more than eight sports has been agreed to and these sports will be formally announced by COWF2013 in the near future, as will the official dates of the Games which are expected to fall in the August/September period.
All Pacific Games Associations and the Oceania Sports Federations whose sports will be selected for the 2013 Pacific Mini Games program can now look forward to increased communications and exchanges with COWF2013 in the months ahead.
