The Pacific Games Council received 36 nominations from 8 Pacific Games Associations for the 2009/10 Pacific Sports Awards - the second edition of the Awards which kicked off in 2009.
The winners were announced at the Council's annual General Assembly, which was held in Noumea on 27 August 2010, and are as follows:
Outstanding Sports Administrator - Robert GRAHAM, Cook Islands
Outstanding Coach - Stephen BETHAM, Samoa Rugby 7s
Oustanding Technical Official - Chris WAQA, Fiji Athletics
Outstanding Junior Athlete - Margaret SATUPAI, Samoa Athletics
Outstanding Team - SAMOA Rugby 7s
Outstanding Female Athlete - Ele OPELOGE, Samoa Weightlifting (pictured)
Outstanding Male Athlete - Mikaele PESAMINO, Samoa Rugby 7s (pictured)
In addition, a LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT award was presented to Mr. Roger KADDOUR of New Caledonia, one of the three drafters of the original Pacific Games Council Charter in the early 1960s. Mr Kaddour went on to be both a President of the Pacific Games Council, and President of the 1966 and 1987 Pacific Games Organising Committees, as well as an iconic figure on New Caledonia sports adminstration for decades.
