This weeks nomination is Mark Roach from the North Footscray Football Club who this year is the Under 11 coach. Here is what the club had to say in its nomination e-mail “Mark has coached this side since they started in the U9’s. In his first year of coaching them, this side lost every game. But Mark instilled a sense of pride for the club his team and told them to have fun. They sung the club song every weekend whether they won or lost. Mark has nurtured these boys ever since. Four years on, the team works like a well oiled machine. The boys know what to do and when to do it. They have become happy, confident kids and this reflects in other areas of their life. When the boys have lost Mark has told them to keep their head up and be proud and that they did well. He has instilled in them mateship and to work as a team. He has taught the boys to look out for one another and respect each other. All these things help our children towards becoming responsible teenagers and adults.. All the parents and grandparents look forward to the game every week. We sit on the side lines looking on with pride and seeing what Mark has done for our children. Mark has a fulltime job and a family of his own and still finds the time to coach our children’. Mark is now in the running to be the 2009 WRFL Unsung Hero who will receive a television valued at $500 from Peter McKnight Retravision.
