WRFL WOMEN'S FOOTBALL FOUNDATION
The Western Region Football League (WRFL) is proud to announce the establishment of the WRFL Women's Football Foundation.
The Foundation will be launched in season 2007 and has been established to encourage and strengthen the participation of women in the WRFL. This participation is being targeted not only in terms of the number of women involved in Australian Rules Football, but also in respect of the type and level of their involvement across all areas of the WRFL including the Clubs, Administration, the Trainers Association, the Umpiring Association, the Judiciary and as Players.
WRFL Directors Diana Taylor and Janine Mizzi said that the creation of the Foundation will see a new level of involvement and profile for women in the WRFL.
The participation of women in Australian Rules Football its one of its core strengths. The WRFL Women's Football Foundation will take this participation to a new level through a combination of professional and personal development programs, the recognition of outstanding women who voluntarily commit themselves to the WRFL and our community and through the strengthening of existing social networks.
We also see the Foundation as a fantastic way to build on our role as a leader for multiculturalism in the West. The response which has been received to date for this initiative has been overwhelmingly positive."
In season 2007, the WRFL will launch the Foundation at a special dinner, the inaugural Woman of the Year Award will be presented and a lecture series designed to develop both professional and personal skills will commence.
The Foundation's Advisory Group will also be working closely with the community to develop further opportunities for participants in the Foundation's initiatives.
