The latest nomination for this prestigious award is Mitch Beattie from the Spotswood Football Club. Mitch was nominated by Club Administrator Annette McLaren "For many years now Mitch has supported our junior teams, by assisting with training, setting up days for junior helpers, goal umpiring, umpires escort, and several years ago when we could not recruit a coach for our U16C, it was Mitch who put up his hand to take on this role. His goal was about giving young children the opportunity to play a game of football as opposed to sitting on the sidelines each weekend. Mitch thinks about other first, particularly the Spotswood Football Club
Mitch is a person who at short notice will do whatever is required around the club. Any job that is asked of him, he accepts without fuss.
For the past couple of years he has been our fill-in Team Manager with our reserves (often at very short notice), goal umpires each weekend for our 12D’s, assists as an umpire escort with our Reserves and Seniors when required. This season we saw him accept another role with the club, the preparation of the footballs for our junior teams".
Congratulations to Mitch who will enjoy a night out at the Yarraville Club-the meeting place of the WRFL and goes into the running to receive am LCD TV valued at $500 from Peter McKnight Retravision of Hoppers Crossing. The WRFL Unsung hero will be announced at the lunch on Division One Grand Final Day.
