Current Narooma Lions player Jai Reed and former Merimbula Digger Matt Vardenega have taken a step closer to playing NSW/ACT Ram's football by being selected into the U16 and U18 academy series for 2016.
Both Reed (U16) and Vardenega (U18) will travel to Tom Will's Oval in Sydney this weekend as part of the PM Capital Giants Academy to take on the Sydney Swans academy in what will be one of the most important matches of their short careers.
All going well in Sydney for the two boys, Reed and Vardenega will have an opportunity to again strut their stuff for the OM Capital Giants academy at Lakeside Oval, Sydney on the 19th March and Kippax Oval, Canberra on the 2nd of April.
Following the conclusion of the acadmey series between the Giants and Swans the NSW/ACT Rams will be chosen to participate in the National Championships against Tasmania, Queensland and the Northern Territory.
'It's a great opportunity for the boys this weekend to show the coaches that they belong in the system and push for a spot in the remaining two academy games as well as selection for the NSW/ACT Rams in the coming months'. Football Operations Coordinator Jarrod Moore said.
'We wish the boys all the best and know that they will do their clubs, familes and most importantly themselves proud'. Moore concluded.
