2008 has not been good for the Cats with their only points coming from a mistake by the Swans. They were even considering merging with Singleton and joining the Black Diamond League before the season started. But they stuck with it and made their best effort and they need to be commended for that. In particular President, Max Barwick, and Coach, Bryce O’Connor, need to be congratulated for keeping the club together. The closest the Cats got to a win in their own right was a 10 point loss to the Nomads in round 9 down at the Cattery.
Disappointingly the Cats forfeited 3 games this year and unless the people that are willing to play at home are willing to travel then this isn’t going change in a hurry. It is only three years since the Cats won the TAFL Premiership and they will need to rebuild again from scratch before 2009. Hopefully the kids they have on their list will get more involved on the field and some of their older players will need to get more involved off the field for the Cats to start climbing the ladder again.
The Cats desperately need more people to get on board their committee at their AGM and they also need more players who are committed to train and travel to help get them back to the heights of 2005 and premiership glory.
