Despite a determined showing, the Country Energy Tamworth AFL Power were outplayed by a fast and skilful AFL North Coast side on saturday, going down by twenty goals.
Armidale turned on a beautiful afternoon, and the North Coast turned on some beautiful football. With the visitors much more effective with their chances, and a nine goals to nil second quarter, the scoreline did not truly reflect a match in which the Power were much more competitive than it would seem.
Gavin Knee was named the best for the Power, leading by example across the midfield. Cameron Douglas and Luke Robinson were also impressive, and Griffiths medal favourite Mick Viney booted three goals from limited opportunities. Other goal scorers for the Power were Cameron Douglas, Mitch Firth, Jonathon Frost and Dean Hoy.
