The Bulldogs’ season can only been classed as a huge step forward and a great success. By finishing the 2008 home and away season in fourth spot the Bulldogs played finals for the first time and their young players will only benefit from such an experience. In fact, they very nearly beat the Nomads at Armidale in the minor semi final which would have been just the icing on their cake for the year.
The Bullies have been blessed with some very good young talent, especially the likes of inaugural Southern Cross Ten Rising Star winner Troy Campbell, Richard Avendano, Pat Lebreux, Matt Nazzari, Aaron Donnelly, Andrew George and Gary Briggs. With these young players the Bulldogs future is looking very good indeed.
Accuracy was one of the Bulldogs’ advantages this year kicking 195 goals and 186 behinds for a 51.18% strike on goal. They were also the third best goal scoring team for third quarters and the second best goal scorers for fourth quarters proving that they could come home strong in most games. If they can work on getting off to better starts over their preseason next year the Bulldogs could very easily go further in 2009.
The Bulldogs is another club that would benefit from more people getting involved off field and they would love to see a big crowd at their AGM later this year.
